Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You….

A couple of times every year we take a look at our traffic crash data in an attempt to determine if steps we are taking are having an impact on the highest crash locations.  We may be using education (traffic safety bulletins), enforcement (traffic stops) and engineering (we may make suggestions to road authorities asking for changes to signals or signage).  I like to see evidence of impacts.   We’ll be focusing our efforts in these areas.The front ends of two vehicles after an accident

For example, you may have noticed that the Interchange ramp to northbound M-24 or Lapeer Road has been narrowed using paint to indicate there are only two turning lanes.  In the past it has been a high crash location–crashes have decreased since the paint went down (yes–I know that there are so many violators that the paint is already wearing off–we’ll get it repainted in the spring).
