New Child Safety Resource

NCMEC-lapel-pinI had the opportunity to attend a chief executive seminar at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia a few years ago to learn more about the resources they offer to police investigators in the case of a missing or abducted child.  I learned a great deal while I was there which I brought back to our department.  We already used up to date procedures and had training for our officers but we stepped that up a notch more to improve our capabilities if we should have a case of this type.

Let me say that we have not had a missing or stranger abduction during the time I have been here.  We have no outstanding missing children at this time.  And we hope we never will have a case of this type but hope is not a strategy.  We have to have training and a plan.  Which we do.

The National Center has just introduced a new resource for parents and educators to prevent abduction and helps children with personal safety.
